Enjoy this tour that helps you discover the Colca Canyon, the major attraction of the Arequipa mountains and also one of the most important ones in Peru. It is an open, fertile and populated valley, characterized by beautiful agricultural terraces and a dozen picturesque villages where locals maintain their customs. You will enjoy the scenery doing horseback riding in the village of Yanque and you will observe that below, the valley closes and becomes a deep and narrow canyon, which can be admired from the surroundings of the town of Cabanaconde.
DAY 1: VOLCANO VIEWPOINT + HORSEBACK RIDING TOUR
7:45 am: After having hd breakfast in the hotel in the city of Arequipa, you will be picked up from your hotel and start your journey to the Colca Valley, making stops on the way to the north in Pampa Cañahuas (Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, Vicuñas reserve), Tocrapampa ( ponds, swamps, Patapampa,the Andean’s point of view, 4900 meters). This place is the highest in the Colca circuit and one of the ideal viewpoints of the Andes, surrounded by volcanos such as Sabancaya, Ampato, Hualca Hualca where a cemetery pre-Inca is located. In addition, it is the tutelary deity of the Colca Valley. A great variety of flora and fauna can be appreciated. Along the way, a panoramic view of the slopes and terraces formed during the geologic erosion of the canyon will be appreciated too.
You will arrive in Chivay, where you will enjoy your lunch. Your journey will continue to the village of Yanque where the hotel is located. Here, you will start your horseback riding tour. At 3:00 pm, the local guide will pick you up to start your horseback riding tour for 2 hours in the field of this city. You will visit the hanging tombs of Chininia, Uyo Uyo ruins and Cervantes bridge, in which the thermal baths are located. Finally, you will return to the hotel in Yanque to spend the night there.
DAY 2: CONDOR'S CROSS VIEWPOINT + VISIT OF TRADITIONAL VILLAGES
06:00 am: After having had breakfast, a tour guide will pick you up to continue the tour in a touristic bus, for one hour, to the Condor’s Cross viewpoint to observe the spectacular flight of the condors while observing the depth of the Colca Canyon, the deepest in the world. For approximately 2 hours, you will stay here and you can take a walk of approx. 1 hour (optional) to explore the canyon a little more. The return will have many visits and stops in the traditional villages of Pinchollo, Maca, Yanque and touristic viewpoints such as Choquetico and Antahuilque that are on the way back to Chivay. Chivay will be the last stop, in which you will have time to lunch and visit the village that is the capital of the whole province. Finally, you will return to the city of Arequipa, you will arrive at the city at 4:30 pm.
