Bird watching is one of the most pleasant activities that the man has developed thanks to our sensibility with nature which is around us. Whis this special tour you will be part of a relaxing and fun adventure, using your senses to recognize the animal sounds and movements in their habitats. Enjoy the Villa Wetlands, a refuge of wild animals located at the coast of the Chorrillos district and get to know the 130 bird species registered. Besides, you will have the chance to do some sightseeing in Pucusana, where the beautiful beach and the delicious seafood will be the best way to recharge energy for the rest of the day. Here you will observe animals in its own marine ecosystem like sea lions, the Peruvian Booby, the Blue-footed Booby and colonies of Humboldt penguins. Spend a day full of emotions with the natural world in one of the most touristic places of Lima.

You will leave very early to Villa Wetlands and then towards Pucusana which is 64 km (40 miles) south of Lima.


Villa Wetlands, which is located 20 minutes south of Lima, has a very important scientific and educational value. There you will see marsh areas, several lagoons surrounded by totoras and different bird species that are part of the Peruvian coast. More than 130 bird species have been recorded here, and at least 40 species can be seen on a single visit. Villa wetland is an obligatory stopping-point for birdwatchers and ornithologists. Between the different birds, you can observe are, the Many-colored Rush-Tyrant, Wren-Like Rushbird, Peruvian Thick-knee, Pied-billed Grebe, Great Grebe, Plumbeous Rail, Black-necked Stilt, Peruvian Meadowlark, Least Bittern, White-cheeked Pintail, Osprey, Gray Gull, Gray-hooded Gull among others waterfowl and sea birds.



The adventure continues in Pucusana, which is well known for its seafood and its beautiful beach. There you can visit the nearby beaches and tour around the island. A visit to its booming fish market is also customary.

In this place, you can see typical species that are closely associated with the cold sea waters of the Humboldt Current such as the Inca Tern, Peruvian Booby, Belcher’s Gull, Peruvian Pelican, Guanay, the Peruvian Seaside Cinclodes and Red-Legged Cormorants. Besides you can contemplate a colony of Humboldt Penguins, that also live in a cave on the island and they can be easily observed during a boat trip.

Depending on time, you will visit some coastal scrub surrounded by agricultural fields. There you will find a variety of birds, which are typical of the desert and coastal scrub such as the Croaking Ground-Dove, Burrowing Owl, Amazilia Hummingbird, Peruvian Sheartail, Long-Tailed Mockingbird, Scrub Blackbird, Groove-billed Ani, Short-tailed Field Tyrant, Southern Beardless Tyrannulet, American Kestrel, among others. Finishing this interesting bird watching, you will go to a restaurant in Pucusana or near Lima to have lunch.
