WHO WE ARE
A Boutique Peru Agency Built on a Simple Belief
Travel should be personal, not packaged. Founded in Cusco in 2015 by two Germans who fell in love with Peru, Exploor was built as a direct response to everything that was wrong with mass tourism – overcrowded sites, cookie-cutter itineraries, underpaid guides, and trips that felt like conveyor belts. We decided to do the opposite.
OUR STORY
Two Germans, One Decision
In 2015, Erik and Oliver arrived in Peru as exchange students. What was supposed to be a semester turned into a life-changing encounter with one of the world’s most extraordinary countries – the Andes, the Amazon, the Inca history, the food, the people.
But they also saw what was broken. Overcrowded tours. Too many people per guide. Underpaid staff. Itineraries built around profit margins, not experiences. They saw travelers leaving Peru without having truly seen it.

So they stayed. And in 2015, Exploor was born – a boutique agency designed from the ground up to do things differently.

The kind of operational rigour that most travel in South America was missing. But they also understood that precision alone doesn’t make a great trip – it’s the Peruvian soul that does. The warmth, the stories, the local knowledge, the genuine connections. That’s what their growing team of local experts brought.”

Small groups and private tours. Guides paid fairly and chosen carefully. Responsible tourism practices established. Itineraries built around the traveler, not a template. We deliberately keep our operation small. That means every itinerary gets real attention, every guide is personally vetted, and every traveler gets a direct line to our team - not a call centre. This isn't scalable. That's the point.

The Adventure Travel Trade Association is the global industry body for responsible adventure travel operators. ATTA membership requires adherence to international standards for safety, sustainability and ethical tourism practices. As an ATTA member, Exploor Peru is part of a global network committed to advancing responsible travel in destinations like Peru.
PromPerú Registered – officially recognized by Peru’s national tourism promotion body, promoting Peru on international travel exhibitions.
PromPerú is the official government body responsible for promoting and regulating tourism in Peru. Registration with PromPerú confirms that Exploor Peru operates as a fully licensed, legally compliant tour operator under Peruvian tourism law – and is recognized by the state as a legitimate provider of tourism services to international travelers. Travelife Certified – internationally recognized sustainability certification for tour operators. Certificate Number: PE0121
Travelife is an internationally recognised sustainability certification program for travel companies, backed by ABTA and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). Travelife Partner status is awarded to operators who demonstrate active commitment to environmental responsibility, fair working conditions and positive community impact – verified through an independent audit process. CALTUR Oro – Peru’s Highest Tourism Quality Certification
Awarded by MINCETUR, Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism. CALTUR ORO is the highest tier of Peru’s national tourism quality certification – granted only to operators who pass a comprehensive audit across service standards, safety protocols, staff training and sustainable practices. ESNNA – certified against the exploitation of minors in tourism by the Peruvian Government.
ESNNA (Estrategia Nacional contra la Explotación Sexual de Niñas, Niños y Adolescentes) is Peru’s national program against the sexual exploitation of minors in tourism contexts. Certification confirms that Exploor Peru has implemented the required protocols, staff training and reporting procedures to actively protect children within all tourism operations. Registered under MINCETUR’s national ESNNA program.
